You may have heard me say in the past that germs don’t cause disease, and although I have clarified that somewhat regarding bacteria, there is more to the story, particularly in the case of viruses and germ theory. This is a huge topic with many elements that need thorough & discerning examination which is why I am pleased to share that I am an affiliate for an incredible online educational event starting on July 11th, called “The End of Covid” that goes deep into the science of why germs don’t in fact cause disease. More details on that shortly. Firstly, I’d like to talk a bit about health, disease & why getting to the bottom of what causes disease is so important.
When it comes to health, we are in an existential crisis. We are stuck in a drama triangle (otherwise known as the Karpman triangle) when it comes to our understanding of health & how the body works. The Drama Triangle, originally conceived by Stephen Karpman, represents a model of social dysfunction that consists of a victim, a villain & a hero. In regard to how we view heath; germs, genes & bad luck are the villains, we are the victims & medical science plays the role of the hero. This dysfunctional relationship perpetuates as medicine, the so-called hero continues to make us sick, we continue to blame the aforementioned villain & we the victims remain in victim consciousness in perpetuity. This leaves us with no control over our health & an ever-growing disconnection to nature & the natural laws of life itself.
So many beliefs we hold as scientific fact, are in fact false or have never actually been scientifically proven. The fact that there is a lot of scientific literature that is false, fraudulent & pseudoscientific is not a new concept. Marcia Angell, former editor of The New England Journal wrote in 2009, “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgement of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.” Similar sentiments were expressed by Richard Horton editor of The Lancet in 2015 “The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness”. In short, just because something has been peer reviewed does not mean that it is right. So many doctors and health practitioners simply glean over an abstract or a conclusion of a research paper & take the authors word for it without critically reading the entire study or using any discernment on whether the authors conclusions reflect the results. Nor do they question the validity of the methodology used in the study. This also applies to reference books used by medical & health science students & professionals, who get so bogged down by the workload, they never think to check the original papers that lead to the conclusions declared in these so-called core textbooks. To be clear, this does not only apply only to allopathic medicine, natural medicine has also fallen into the same trap as western medicine, throwing out reason & observation for blind belief in so-called “evidence based medicine”.
In my training when I studied for my Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional Medicine, I was taught these principles that naturopaths & naturopathic nutritionists pledge to uphold. They are the following.
The 6 Principles of Natural Medicine
1. Vis Medicatrix Naturae: The Healing Power of Nature
2. Primum Non Nocere: First Do No Harm
3. Tolle Totum: Treat the Whole Person
4. Tolle Causam: Treat the Cause
5. Docere: Naturopath as Teacher
6. Preventare: Prevention
I want to take this opportunity to express what these principles mean to me as a practitioner, as like many things, there are different ways to interpret these principles.
The healing power of nature does not just apply to the healing power of plants or the elements, it also refers to the healing nature of the body, the body is nature & cannot be separated. In so many cases we treat the symptoms as the disease when in fact they are the bodies therapy & in turn, we do more harm. One example of this is the commonly held belief of the need to interrupt a fever, a fever is the bodies way of heating up the gel like structured water in our cells and tissues to move toxins out of the body via fluids. It is now evident that doing so increases the likelihood of cancer (an accumulation of toxins), yet still many people believe it is wise to do so & that the fever is somehow dangerous. The idea that the body is at war with germs puts us at war with ourselves making us a victim & nature the villain. To align with nature completely one must understand the nature of the self & the nature of the body.
First do no harm comes before treat the cause. To me, these two principles are related. If the cause isn’t identified correctly then harm can occur. This is why we need to get very clear on what really make us sick. If we are treating a disease and we don’t understand what is causing it, we can give the wrong treatments which can be very dangerous & even deadly. This is harm. Many practitioners, even in the natural medicine sphere, treat the symptoms and do not get down to what the cause of disease is for the individual. Even with “natural” treatments this is at the very least doing people a great disservice and at its worst, perpetuating disease.
Treat the whole person means just that, myopically treating symptoms or diseases does not serve the individual. Each person has an individual story & unique combination of reasons why they experience disease at any one time. Getting to the bottom of what the causes are for that individual is what is going to lead them back to health. Again, the symptoms are not the disease they are the bodies therapy, a practitioner’s role is to get to the bottom of why the body is expressing the way that it is for that individual.
Naturopath as teacher; I see this role as being a mediator between the individual & nature, educating people so they can find their own path to health sovereignty. That is a very different relationship to looking for a saviour/hero in a doctor or in “science” or even in a natural practitioner.
Prevention of course means to strive to prevent disease from happening in the first place. To me, prevention and connection cannot be separated. Our disconnect to spirit & nature is the root cause of disease. Nature has a law to it; the role of the practitioner is to reconnect people back to these laws & principles. Therefore, connection to nature & spirit is the core pathway to preventative healthcare.
The scientific debate on whether germs cause disease has been going for over 100 years. Antoine Béchamp & Louis Pasteur famously feuded about the validity of germ theory in the late 1800’s with Louis Pasteur insisting that germs were the cause of disease & Antoine Béchamp arguing that the terrain was what mattered, that bacteria respond to the environment that they are in, cleaning up dead & dying tissue when needed & it was the quality of terrain inside our body that determined whether or not we got sick. It was found later that much of Patstuer’s work was fraudulent & on his death bed he confessed “the germ is nothing; the terrain is everything”.
The conversation has since continued peaking at certain times in history, none more than in the last few years after the world endured unprecedented restrictions & upheaval in the name of a virus. This sparked a small group of people, doctors, scientists’ researchers & investigative journalists to revisit the scientific literature that forms the basis of our current health care paradigm. What was discovered was shocking & the vale on the pseudo-science of virology is finally being lifted. The two most shocking & core revelations being that no virus has ever been isolated following the scientific method & contagion has never been shown to occur in any of the transmission studies. If you are reading this & thinking this is crazy, this woman has lost it & it can’t be true, I get it, it sounds crazy the first time you hear this information. We have been told germs cause disease our whole lives & it’s a hard belief to move past. Trillions of dollars have been myopically spent on research on the basis that germs cause disease, it’s hard to believe we have been going down the wrong path for so long. Thankfully Alec Zeck & the team at The End of Covid have put on an exceptional event that will go over every aspect of the scientific fraud, leaving no stone unturned.
This event is going to be an opportunity to get educated on some of the commonly held health fallacies and serve to alleviate unnecessary fears, directing us back on the road to true health sovereignty. To find out why Virology is in fact a pseudo-science & to learn what really makes you sick The Way Forward & Alfa Vedic are bringing you “The End of Covid” in collaboration with many others including Dr Tom Cowan, Drs Sam & Mark Bailey, Amanda Volmer, Sally Fallon Morell, Daniel Roytas, Dr Gerald Pollack, Veda Austin & Eric Coppolino to name a few. This online educational event starts on July 11th, they will be releasing 100+ hours of content, covering every aspect of the “pandemic.” Sign up using the link here and stream it for free over the course of 21 days.
The most exciting element that this educational event poses is the potential for a huge paradigm shift on both a collective & personal level. A new paradigm of health & health care gives us the opportunity to alter the internal archetypes we hold in relation to our health on an emotional, spiritual & energetic level. From this revelation we evolve out of the victim triangle of the victim, the villain & the hero into to a cocreation triangle where the victim becomes the creator, the villain becomes the challenge & the hero becomes the teacher.
