Chamomile blooms in spring & has a strong affinity with spring/wind type conditions, hay fever, colic, digestive upsets & conditions with tension & spasms. This herb is so accessible & has so many uses that its a number one remedy to have in the first aid kit aka the kitchen cupboard! I have mentioned some home remedies using chamomile here, but there are many more to explore.

Chamomile gently calms the entire nervous system down, helping it to switch from sympathetic to parasympathetic.

Induces sweating & is an integral ally in the detoxification & regeneration pathways active during acute illness.

Chamomile has a strong affinity with the child. providing a wonderful remediator for many childhood acute illnesses as well as illnesses related to the inner child. Respiratory conditions with that have an underlying element of childhood trauma benefit from using chamomile as an ally.
Considerations
Many tea commercial tea brands that use tea bags contain microplastics in the tea bags, I recommend using organic loose leaf chamomile. You can purchase some here.
When making therapeutic concoctions use filtered water where possible.
Home Hydrotherapy Session
This form of hydrotherapy is a great home alternative to a sauna. Sweating is a one of the pathways of elimination & is beneficial to bring on in times of acute illness. Draw a bath as hot as you can handle & add ½ cup of Epsom salts or magnesium chloride. Steep a strong tea of chamomile & drink while you are having a bath. After bathing towel off and layer up in warm cloths & socks & get under the covers in bed for 20 minutes to complete the sweating process.
Chamomile Eye Wash
To relieve conjunctivitis (otherwise known as pink eye), or itchy hay fever eyes .
Boil water & add 1 heaped teaspoon of loose chamomile. Let brew for 5-10 minutes. Strain & cool. Dip a clean face cloth in the tea. Squeeze a little out and wipe from inner eye to outer eye. Repeat every couple of hours throughout the day with a clean cloth each time, for as long as you need it.
Chamomile Teething Cloth
Make some organic chamomile tea and cool it down to room temperature. Make a knot in a muslin cloth and then soak it in the tea, squeeze out any excess. Pop into a freezer for around 10 minutes (do not freeze the cloth until it is solid, this can cause freezer burn on your baby’s gums) and then give it to baby to chew on. The chamomile will be soothing to the baby’s gums and nervous system. soothe your little ones gums and in some cases may even. For babies 3 to 6 months
Chamomile Steam Inhalation
For acute conditions of the upper & lower respiratory tract such as sinusitis, bronchitis, cold flu, headaches & earaches use a chamomile steam inhalation for an inflammatory modulating and decongestant effect on the mucous membranes. Place 2 tbsp of chamomile in a heatproof bowl of boiling hot water, place head in front of the bowl & place a towel over the head. Take deep breaths, preferably through the nose, for 5-10 minutes. For all ages. Supervise children while doing this.
